Production of a diamond-like tool segment comprises inserting a green body axially into an open side of a recess of a die heated to the sintering temperature and having the exact shape of the green body; and impinging the green body with a sintering pressure. An Independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the process comprising pressing units (15, 19) surrounded by a heating device (18) which heats a receiving chamber (16) to the sintering temperature.
