摘要 <p>The invention relates to a device for the spatial modulation of an infrared light beam which is intended, in particular, to be incorporated in a module that is disposed on a multi-axis table for the testing of missiles with infrared seekers. The inventive device employs the principle of birefringence which is controlled electrically by means of liquid crystals. The aforementioned device comprises: a liquid crystal modulator which operates in mode PI and which is incorporated in a silicon TFT matrix; and a uniform phase compensator which is optically identical to the modulator but which is positioned such that the birefringence axis thereof is perpendicular to that of the matrix. Said architecture can be used to achromatise the infrared light modulation, in a wide spectral band, in at least one addressing mode in order to generate high-contrast images. The device, which is incorporated in a projector that can comprise two channels, can be used to generate rapid, high-dynamic, high-definition infrared images of excellent quality.</p>
