A piezoelectric pulse generator (PPG) (11) acts on an impulse converter in the form of an inductive current amplifier (ICA) (31) operated by a detonator with a winding short-circuit for a coil connected into a pulsating capacitor. Alternatively a Blumlein pulse shaper and a vircator operate a horn antenna for a defined microwave radiation spectrum from the PPG, if necessary via the ICA. For powering a broadband antenna, a coaxial cable (53) compresses pulses e.g. with a branch cable (56) for bipolar pulse conversion with its outgoing pulses polled along a lengthwise spark gap. An antenna operates in an isolation gas volume (59) under a radome (58) fixed like a balloon in order to be able to radiate higher power.
