PURPOSE: An EGR valve is provided to prevent noises during the operation of the EGR valve and leakage of exhaust gas being returned to the engine, while allowing for EGR at a low duty rate. CONSTITUTION: An EGR valve comprises a valve body(2) having a valve seat(8); a valve(4) for opening/shutting the valve seat; an EGR passage(7) formed on the valve body in such a manner that the exhaust gas flows in the direction where the valve tightly contacts the valve seat; a lever(9) having an end fixed at the valve and the other end extended in the rearward direction; a support rod(10) for supporting the lever in such a manner that the lever is rotatable; a valve operating shaft(12) having a lower end connected to the other end of the lever and an upper end protruded from the valve body in such a manner that the upper end is movable in a vertical direction while maintaining an airtightness through the valve body; and an actuator(3) for moving the valve operating shaft in a vertical direction by the vacuum pressure generated by a vacuum pump.
