<p>Apparatus 1 for removing adhesive labels from garment hangers includes loading means 2, 3, washing means 5, drying means 9 and unloading means 7,8. The loading and unloading means each comprise rotatable shafts 10, 24 with helical grooves for engaging the hooks of hangers, rotation of the shafts causing the hangers to move along their length. The depth of the grooves on the loading shafts increase along their length, and said loading shafts have groove-free portions for receiving hangers. The drying means 9 comprises an elongate chamber partially surrounding the unloading shafts 24. The washing means 5 comprises a rotary support member 4 for the hangers and at least one stream of liquid sprayed in an side-to-side and/or an up and down motion onto the label of said hangers. The liquid and label residue are collected underneath the washing means, and the liquid may be recycled.</p> |
