PURPOSE: A method for setting a port and a method for processing job using the same are provided to make a user automatically change the physically connected port as a basic port without difficultly chaining the basic port physically or by a program. CONSTITUTION: It is judged that a host is physically connected to a peripheral device through the basic port, which is fixed as a default port of the host(10). If the host is not connected to the peripheral device through the basic port, the existence of the port physically connecting the host with the peripheral device is judged(12). If the port exists, the port is converted into the basic port(14). If the port does not exist, the fact that the port physically connecting the host with the peripheral device does not exist is informed to the user(18).
