PURPOSE: A network system using a power line and a method of setting an address for the same are provided to automatically set addresses to home appliances to which a new home appliance is additionally connected, with a power line connected with the home appliances, thereby increasing user convenience. CONSTITUTION: A newly added home appliance outputs a self serial number to a power line(S1). A network manager sets a home code of the newly added home appliance(S2). The network manager obtains information on a home appliance that does not have a logical address, among many home appliances having home codes connected to the power line(S3). The network manager sets a logical address of the newly added home appliance(S4), and stores information on the newly added home appliance in a log file(S5). The network manager decides whether a problem is generated in the log file(S6). If not, the network manager displays the information on the newly added home appliance(S7). If the problem is generated, the network manager automatically registers the serial number of the newly added home appliance(S8), and finds out a product to which a logical address is not given, by using the registered serial number, and returns to the step 'S4'(S9).
