PURPOSE: An electron gun of a cathode ray tube for a multi-media is provided to lower the control voltage of the cathode, while achieving improved focus performance. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun comprises a cathode, a control electrode, a screen electrode, and a plurality of focus electrodes for focusing and accelerating electron beams. When the control electrode has a thickness of Tmm and the electron beam passing hole formed at the control electrode has a diameter of Dmm, the value β obtained by dividing the thickness by the diameter is 0.233 or higher.
