PURPOSE: Chroman derivatives and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same as an effective component are provided, which compounds are useful for prevention and treatment of apoplexy, Alzheimer's diseases and Parkinson's disease. CONSTITUTION: Chroman derivatives represented by the formula 1 and pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are provided, wherein R is H, C1-C4 lower alkyl, benzyl or phenyl; and X is C=O or CH2. A pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting the activation of microglia comprises the chroman derivatives or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and carriers.
