PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to form a thick alignment film of a thin film transistor substrate to absorb unevenness patterns of a passivation film or a pixel electrode, thereby uniforming alignment force of the alignment film. CONSTITUTION: A gate wire is formed on a lower insulating substrate(10). The gate wire includes a plurality of gate lines(22), gate pads(24), and gate electrodes(26). A gate insulating film(30) is formed on the gate wire. A semiconductor layer(40) is formed on the gate insulating film. A data wire is formed on the gate insulating film. The data wire including a plurality of data lines(62), source and drain electrodes(65,66). A passivation film(70) is formed on the data wire for covering the semiconductor layer between the source and drain electrodes. A pixel electrode(82) is formed on the passivation film to be electrically connected with the drain electrodes through contact holes(72,76). An alignment film(25) is formed on the passivation film and the pixel electrode for aligning liquid crystal molecules in a specific direction. |
