The device has a base (1) of piezoelectric material and an electric heating element (3) that can be brought into thermal contact with the measurement fluid (6). Throughflow dependent heating and/or cooling of the heating element or fluid caused by mechanical deformation of the base produces an electric voltage. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: a method measuring the mass flow of a flowing fluid.
