A process for the production of synthesis gas by feeding a liquid fuel in the presence of oxygen and water vapor comprises feeding a liquid fuel of maximum dynamic viscosity by mixing at least one fuel having a dynamic viscosity greater than the maximum dynamic viscosity with at least one fuel having a dynamic viscosity that is below the maximum viscosity.
