PURPOSE: Printing method and apparatus having a paper matching function are provided to prevent printing delay and a loss of a data owing to discordance between a paper selected by a user and the paper stored in the paper cassette. CONSTITUTION: A printing apparatus having a paper matching function is composed of a data analyzing part(40), a paper size sampling part(42), a comparator(44), a data changing part(46), and a printing part(48). The data analyzing part(40) analyzes the paper data inputted from a host through an inputted terminal(IN1), selects a first size of the paper, and outputs the first size into the comparator. The paper size sampling part(42) abstracts a second size of the paper stored in the cassette, and outputs the second size into the comparator. The comparator compares the first size and the second size, and the compared result outputs the data changing part(46) and printing part(48).
