A substrate (16,52) or a substrate with a coating (50) is prepared and then either cured, cross-linked and/or dried using microwaves (60,62) with two or more wavelengths. Independent claims are made for: (1) the process equipment which includes a microwave source (36), an emitter (38) and control unit (66) for producing microwaves with two different wavelengths; (2) a use of a microwave tunnel oven (10) for treatment of a coating material on a substrate and/or a substrate.
