PURPOSE: An anti-lock brake system is provided to detect the failure by detecting open or short of a solenoid coil and prevent the damage of a switching element by turning off the switching element in over current or short of the solenoid coil. CONSTITUTION: An anti-lock brake system includes a hydraulic control unit(40) driving a solenoid valve and detecting over current and wrong operation according to the flow of current; a main control unit(30) opening and closing the solenoid valve by controlling the hydraulic control unit, and deciding the abnormal state of the solenoid valve according to detection of the hydraulic control unit; and an alarm unit sounding an alarm to a driver according to control of the main control unit in the trouble of the solenoid valve. The short circuit is detected by monitoring current on the solenoid coil, and the damage of the switching element is prevented by turning off the switching element at short circuit.
