The invention relates to a method for separating glass. A first fissure is created on the surface of the glass, and a fissure is drawn along a predefined separation line by means of a guided laser beam. The wavelength of the laser beam is located inside the range in which the absorption length corresponds to the thickness of the workpiece. The invention also relates to a device for separating glass with a laser having an absorption length ranging within the thickness of the workpiece and radiation of the glass at a maximum width of 1 mm, preferably no more than 0.3 mm. Also disclosed is the use of the inventive device for separating material such as glass, ceramics, and plastic, especially flat glass, glass tubes, and glass rods. |
