PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a pattern roll capable of manufacturing the pattern roll by highly accurate processing in a simple process in a short time and an optical sheet film-forming method, regarding the method for manufacturing the pattern roll with a repeated pattern formed on a peripheral surface of a cylinder roll by forming the repeated pattern of a recessed groove and a projecting groove on the peripheral surface and an optical sheet film-forming method for film-forming an optical sheet by using pattern roll manufactured by the above manufacturing method. SOLUTION: Wire electric discharge machining by a wire electrode 200 is performed for the surface of the cylinder roll 100, while rotating the cylinder roll 100 and successively regenerating the wire electrode 200 extending in a direction intersecting an axial center direction of the cylinder roll 100 (an arrow y direction) by bringing the wire electrode 200 closer to the surface of the cylinder roll 100.
