PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll working machine for forming a knot capable of exactly performing knot working, while keeping a rotation angle position of a workpiece and a rotation angle position of a tool in a prescribed relation. SOLUTION: This roll working machine for forming the knot performs prescribed knot working for the workpiece W, while rotating the workpiece W and the tool T and relatively moving the tool T and the workpiece W. In this machine, a rotary driving body 2a for rotating a work spindle 1 and a rotary driving body 101 for rotating a tool shaft 4 are constituted to be synchronously controllable. The machine is provided with a rotation angle position detection means for detecting a rotation angle position of the workpiece W and a rotation angle position of the tool shaft 4. The rotary driving bodies 2a and 101 may be constituted to be controlled so that the rotation angle position of the workpiece W and the rotation angle position of the tool T may be a relation set in advance.
