METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SILICA GLASS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing silica glass of a bulk form having elaborateness similar to that of the conventional fused silica by a low temperature process. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the silica glass comprises using fumed silica particulates made by oxidizing and hydrolyzing SiCl4with a flame of 1,100 to 1,400°C formed by burning a gaseous mixture composed of H2and O2as raw materials and impressing pressure to the aggregate of such particulates thereby integrating the fumed silica particulates to each other.
