The automatic electric road vehicle has a height adjustable floor which can be lowered into contact with the ground when the vehicle is stopped. The vehicle has two hinged frames (3) attached to the front and rear of the vehicle chassis and each having a wheel (8) driven by an electric motor in its hub at each end. The frames are rotated to raise and lower the chassis.
