PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a large amount of an industrially useful transglutaminase at a low cost.

SOLUTION: A DNA molecule encoding the transglutaminase of Streptoverticillium ladakanum, an expression vector containing the DNA molecule, a host cell containing the expression vector, a transglutaminase encoded by the DNA molecule and the use of the transglutaminase in industrial processes are provided.
