PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding roller capable of feeding a sheet appropriately and certainly by automatically adjusting the abutting pressure applied between the sheet feeding roller and the sheet during feeding the sheet. SOLUTION: The sheet feeding roller 300 feeding sheets one by one by pressing against stacked sheets and rotating is constituted of a holding plate 302 fixed to a revolving shaft 307, and a rubber 301 disposed so that its front half part (a) in the rotational direction is fixed to the holding part 302 and rear half part (b) has a clearance. Thereby, the distance from the axial center of the revolving shaft 307 to the outer circumferential surface 301a of the rear half part (b) changes according to the abutting pressure of a sheet P and the sheet feeding roller 300 which changes with the density of the sheet P, and thus, the abutting pressure is automatically adjusted to a proper value according to the density of the sheet P.
