PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a high quality and high speed multi-value processing for image data in high resolution. SOLUTION: A printing system is constituted by connecting a computer to an inkjet printer in order to perform the printing of an image in a resolution higher than that of the original image data. The multi-value processing is performed in two stages. The multi-value processing (such as an error diffusion method) that takes much time is performed by the computer in a low resolution and one (such as a dither method) that takes less time is performed by the printer. As the multi-value processing is performed in two stages, the resolution and the gradation number in the first stage can be raised so that the multi-value processing can be performed in high quality at a high speed and the printing in high quality at a high speed can be realized.
