PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline protease-producing bacterium producing an alkaline protease having excellent resistance to an oxidant, and high gelatin- degrading activities, and usable for a detergent, a photographic industry, and food processing. SOLUTION: This alkaline protease-producing bacterium belongs to the genus bacillus, and has a 16S ribosomal DNA comprising a base sequence represented by the sequence number 1 (refer to the specification) or a base sequence having≥98% homology to the base sequence.
