PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for producing sausage requiring no observation for exchanging a casing (sheep intestine) by an operator, and a method for producing the sausage. SOLUTION: This device for producing the sausage has a filling nozzle which discharges meat from the inside hole of the discharge end and arranges the casing on the outer periphery, a slider which is installed to the outer periphery opposite to the discharge end to slide along the outer periphery of the filling nozzle so as to push the end of the casing opposite to the discharge end toward the side of the discharge end and a first detection end which detects the end position of the casing opposite to the discharge end side. The slider may have a flange and slides by flowing air to the flange surface. A second detection end for stopping a part or the whole of the device by detecting the result of the first detection end may be installed to the discharge end of the nozzle. This method for producing the sausage is to exchange the casing depending on the result detected by the first or second detection end. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
