PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a step which may occur in an image without creating complexation in a manufacturing work, raising of the manufacturing cost, an unclear image without replacing a recording head. SOLUTION: In an LED writing head control section 1 for supplying image data to an LED writing head 227, FIFO memories M1-M(N-1) for delaying the image data by each LED block by the respective delay time is provided between a selecting device 4 and a line memory 5. The recording positions of the LED blocks are sequentially shifted in parallel in a sub-scanning direction. The driving in a time sharing fashion eliminates a step in a recording position in a sawtooth shape which may be created when a straight image in the main scanning direction is recorded so that the images formed by the respective LED blocks are continuous in a straight line.
