PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedal type wheelchair facilitating transfer operation from the wheelchair to a bed or a toilet, convenient for shopping and high in safety of not retreating even if making a temporary stop in climbing a slope. SOLUTION: This pedal type wheelchair is travelable by applying driving force to the wheels, the front and rear wheels 2, 3 mounted to a body frame 1, by the own pedaling operation of a rider. The front wheel of the wheelchair is provided with a steering mechanism 19, and a seat part 4 is supported in a horizontally rotatable manner on the body frame and constituted to be fixable by a fixing means 9 in the optional rotating position of the seat part.
