PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably narrow the distribution of the thickness of a coating layer in the width direction of a support while the characteristic of scraping type coating that an extremely thin coating layer can be formed being retained. SOLUTION: In the coating method comprising applying a coating liquid in the amount exceeding a desired coating amount to a stripe type web 12 being continuously moved and then scraping the excess amount of the coating liquid applied excessively using a scraping member 16 by applying relatively pushing force between the web 12 and scraping member 16, the dispersion of the coating thickness in the web width is suppressed to 20% or less before the excess amount of the coating liquid is scraped out by the scraping member 16.
