PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize capacity of a capacitor for backup that is disposed for securing a power supply for driving and a power supply for control of a traverse motor when an instant stop where a power supply voltage temporarily decreases occurs in a conventional simple pyramidal type traverse device. SOLUTION: This traverse device comprises a voltage decrease detecting means 55 and a traverse control device 5 for controlling the traverse motor 11 for driving a traverse guide 15. The traverse control device 5 can control the traverse motor 11 at a first driving speed or a second driving speed. When the power supply voltage lies in a normal state, the traverse motor 11 is controlled to be driven at the first driving speed. When decrease of the power supply voltage is detected, the traverse motor 11 is controlled to be driven at the second driving speed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
