PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment ink fixing agent for an inkjet recording medium and the inkjet recording medium, which is excellent in the absorbency of the pigment ink and in the water resistance and light resistance of an image recorded on the medium.

SOLUTION: This pigment ink fixing agent in a pigment ink accepting layer is used in the inkjet recording medium having the pigment accepting layer stacked on a base material and is a hydrotalcite compound including a silicate anion as an anion.
