<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering hygienic raw materials from fouled sanitary articles. <P>SOLUTION: The fouled sanitary article is cut into a belt shape, and water absorbing paper cut in the belt shape and a fouled plastic material are separated from a water absorbing material. The separated water absorbing paper and the fouled plastic material are crushed, and the crushed materials are classified in an air current to separate the water absorbing material mixed in the crushed materials from the water absorbing paper and the fouled plastic material. The classified plastic material separated from the water absorbing paper is recovered, and the water absorbing material mixed in the separated plastic material is mixed with the dry water absorbing material separated by the classification in the air current of the plastic material separated from the hygienic article.
