PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which can shorten a ramp-up time at start and a ramp-down time at stop without influencing an image quality of printing images and can improve the printing accuracy by highly accurately driving motors. SOLUTION: There are set the first motor, the second motor, a driving means for driving the first motor and a driving means for driving the second motor. Rotor shafts of the first motor and the second motor are coupled on the same axis, and the coupled first and second motors are used as a driving means for a carriage. Alternatively, there are set the first motor, the second motor, a driving means for driving the first motor and a driving means for driving the second motor. Rotor shafts of the first motor and the second motor are coupled on the same axis and, the coupled first and second motors are used as a driving means for recording media. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
