PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal printer in which fixing operation is carried out efficiently and quickly while reducing the size. SOLUTION: An UV lamp 9 is coated on the inner circumferential surface of a transparent glass 12 with a phosphor 13 radiating near UV-rays having an emission peak of about 420 nm, and a phosphor 14 radiating UV-rays having an emission peak of about 365 nm by 180°respectively. A pair of reflectors 10 are disposed to hold the UV lamp 9 between and the UV lamp 9 is opening upward. At the time of optically fixing a yellow thermal coloring layer 23, a lamp rotating mechanism 11 rotates the UV lamp 9 such that the side coated with the phosphor 13 faces a recording sheet 3, and rotates the UV lamp 9 such that the side coated with the phosphor 14 faces the recording sheet 3 at the time of optically fixing a magenta thermal coloring layer 22.
