PURPOSE: A multi-functional indoor unit of a ceiling embedded type air conditioner is provided to light up a room as well as heating and cooling. CONSTITUTION: An indoor unit includes a case(10) embedded in a ceiling, and having an inlet formed on a center of a bottom thereof, and outlets(10b) formed on an outer ring of the bottom thereof; a heat exchanger placed in the case for heating and cooling of a room; and a lighting unit(30) placed on the bottom of the case to light up the room. The lighting unit includes an optical source(31) placed on a surface of the bottom of the case without holes such as the outlets and the inlet to directly light up the room; a cover(32) detachably placed on the surface to cover the optical source so as to prevent glare due to the direct lighting, and to improve appearance; and an auxiliary cover(33) placed on the inlet, and having a plurality of slits formed thereon. The cover and the auxiliary cover are made of milky semitransparent glass or milky semitransparent synthetic resins. The optical source is a halogen lamp, an incandescent bulb, a beam lamp, a xenon lamp or a high efficiency halide lamp. |
