SETTING INFORMATION ASSIGNING METHOD FOR EXTERNAL NETWORK CONNECTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately assign setting information required for a connection with an external network to a client. SOLUTION: An address assignment processing part 11 of a server 10 as a coordinator server at a certain point of time assigns and answers an IP address and GW address corresponding to an address assignment request from a client 6. Address assignment processing parts 21 and 31 of servers 20 and 30 as coordinator servers in turn at the next point of time and the further next point of time are similarly operated as well. The client 6 is connected with the Internet 1 via any one of gateways 18, 28 and 38 by referring to the GW address designated in the answer from the server 10. The other server 20 recognizing the occurrence of a fault in the server 10 switches a communication path for accessing the Internet 1 by changing the GW address assigned to the relevant client 6.
