PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein adjustment of an upstream channel of an amplifier for CATV requires many trouble and costs. SOLUTION: To adjust the upstream channel of the amplifier for CATV, the amplifier has an in-built signal generating circuit for generating a signal required for adjustment and an in-built changeover switch capable of switching and inputting the signal outputted from the circuit and an upstream signal from a subscriber side into the upstream channel. To adjust the upstream channel of the amplifier for CATV, the amplifier is provided with a terminal capable of connecting and disconnecting the signal generator for generating a signal required for adjustment, and a multiplexer for multiplexing a signal outputted from the signal generator connected to the terminal to the upstream channel in the amplifier.
