PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thunder resistant element protective fuse having a fuse performing the functions of current fuse and thermal fuse and allowing a large surge current tolerance and a current limiting capacity to be set arbitrarily. SOLUTION: In this wire fuse 5 formed of an alloy of at least bismuth, tin, and lead and manufactured from a low melting temperature metal molten at 120°C or below by using a continuous drawing method in which the cross sectional area thereof is determined by the dimension of a die. The cross sectional area (s) determining a rated surge current tolerance is set to 1 mm<SP>2</SP>or above at which a necessary mechanical strength can be obtained, and the cut length (a) thereof is set to a length capable of surely cutting out an arc current when the fuse is blown due to the short circuit deterioration of a thunder resistant element.
