PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clip attaching method that prevents a magnetic tape from shifting or removing from the clip, from protruding largely from the opening part of the clip to be the cause of an abnormal state in quality, and from being the possibility of being the cause of tape reflection in attaching the clip to the magnetic tape wound around a leader pin. SOLUTION: In the clip attaching method for winding the magnetic tape MT around the leader pin 11 and knocking the clip 13 with a C-shaped cross section around the leader pin 11 in order to fix the leader pin 11 for extracting the magnetic tape MT out of a magnetic tape cartridge to the end part of the magnetic tape MT, the end part of the magnetic tape is folded back and the front end of the end part is welded to the magnetic tape MT itself to form a ring part 48, and the clip 13 is knocked around the leader pin 11 in the state in which a tape clamp part of the leader pin 11 is inserted through the ring part 48.
