<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery and its manufacturing method capable of preventing a bulge. <P>SOLUTION: Halogenated carboxymethyl cellulose obtained by substituting halogen atoms for at least part of hydrogen atoms is used as a binder. Since the halogenated carboxymethyl cellulose is rarely decomposed in the initial charge or when being allowed to stand under high temperature, the generation of gas is reduced.
