PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device for acquiring an image having a wide dynamic range.

SOLUTION: An image pickup device 10 for picking up the image of a subject 200 is provided with a photodetector 300a for receiving light of an area 202a of the subject 200, a CCD 30 having a photodetector 300b for receiving light of an area 300b of the subject 200, a photometric sensor 54 for deciding the brightness of the area 202a and that of the area 202b, and a sensitivity control part 11 which controls the sensitivity of the photodetector 300a on the basis of the brightness of the area 202a decided by the photometric sensor 54 and controls the sensitivity of the photodetector 300b on the basis of the brightness of the area 202b decided by the photometric sensor 54.
