PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head slider capable of being easily manufactured, wherein a magnetic space is reduced. SOLUTION: A slider 20 comprises a slider main body 21 and a thin film magnetic head element 22. The slider main body 21 has an air bearing surface 30, an air inlet end 41 and an air outlet end 42. The air bearing surface 30 has a first surface 31 which includes two parts extended in an air passage direction, a second surface 32 which is arranged between the two parts of the first surface and which includes a part extended in the air passage direction, a third surface 33 arranged in a position nearer the air outlet end 42 than the first surface 31, and a boundary portion 34 between the first surface 31 and the third surface 33. Between the first surface 31 and the second surface 32, a step is provided so that the second surface 32 is separated from a recording medium more than the first surface 31.
