FIBER LASER DEVICE, ITS OPTICAL MULTIPLEXER/BRANCHING FILTER, AND IMAGE DISPLAY UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a fiber laser device which is capable of outputting a laser beam of high power and simple in structure. SOLUTION: Light emitted from a first exciting light source (1111) is made to impinge on an end face of a first optical fiber (14). A first rare earth material is added to the core of the first optical fiber (14), an optical resonance takes place in the core, and the optical fiber (14) has a resonant part (28) which outputs light selected from resonance light from the other end face of the optical fiber (14). An optical multiplexer/branching filter (15) reflects light having a selected wavelength in the direction different from that of the first optical fiber (14). A second exciting light source (1112) feeds light to the resonance part (28) of the first optical fiber (14) through the intermediary of the optical multiplexer/branching filter (15) and the other end face of the first optical fiber (14). The second optical fiber (25) extracts light of selected wavelength from the optical multiplexer/branching filter (15). COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
