PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide transfer control adapted to simultaneous transfer of a plurality of images conducted between a buffer area of a primary storage section (image memory 42) and a secondary storage device (HDD 48). SOLUTION: When the image processing apparatus performs a series of processes to transfer a received image/an intermediate image (converted data by compressing input data) to the HDD 48 through the buffer area of the image memory 42 by DMA control of a memory control section 43, on a request of a plurality of data transfer operations (simultaneous transfer), a unit image is divided and transferred (a plurality of number of times), the occupied time of the HDD is dispersed by each image and simultaneous processing for a plurality of the images is efficiently carried out in parallel. The number of transfer operation times/capacity is set to a transfer object image by an instruction, the buffer area corresponding to the settings is reserved in the image memory and the unit image divisions are transferred to carry out the split transfer of the unit images under the optimum conditions.
