<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize automatic processing by reducing necessity of a work by a specialist, and to utilize conventional data, in a site partition processing of a palmar pattern impression image. <P>SOLUTION: First of all, a rectangle (vertex A, B, C, D) is detected, which is enclosed by a pair of parallel lateral straight lines which are boundary lines between a palmar pattern impression and a background on the wrist side and the fingertip side, and a pair of parallel longitudinal straight lines perpendicular to the lateral straight lines, which are boundary lines between the palmar pattern impression and the background on the thumb side and the little finger side. Then, points X1, X2, X3, X4 for dividing the side AB and the side CD into three equal parts and points Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6 for dividing the side AC and the side BD into four equal parts are determined, and the rectangle is partitioned into 12 (lateral 3 × longitudinal 4) small regions. The palmar pattern impression is partitioned into three sites, namely, a first site determined by combining 6 (lateral 3 × longitudinal 2) small regions on the fingertip side, a second site determined by combining 6 (lateral 2 × longitudinal 3) small regions on the thumb and wrist sides, and a third site determined by combining 6 (lateral 2 × longitudinal 3) small regions on the little finger and wrist sides. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
