PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting means of a motor which can detect the position of the rotor even when any one of signals from the rotor position detecting means is abnormal.

SOLUTION: An abnormality detecting means 8 detects occurrence of an abnormality in at least one of signals from a plurality of position detecting means 3. A signal control means 6 detects rotation of the rotor even when an abnormality occurs in any one of signals from the plurality of position detecting means 3 by operating an independent detecting means (second detecting means) 4 based on the signal from a normal position detecting means 3.
