PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive unit which can be prevented from being deflected caused by vibration or impact and also protected against the ingress of dust or dirt without increasing cost by engaging side panels of bottom casing with each other. SOLUTION: The disk drive unit is provided with a casing constituted of: a bottom casing having a bottom and a plurality of side panels formed integrally with the bottom in a direction approximately vertical to the bottom plate; and a top plate section screwed so as to cover the bottom casing, and records or reproduces information with a pickup provided in the casing. The disk drive unit is further provide with an engaging section for engaging the side panels with each other at the position where the side panel and the top panel section are screwed.
