PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform space saving without damaging the mobile operability of a path width adjusting plate. SOLUTION: In a merchandise housing device of an automatic vending machine, if the path width adjusting plate 40 is moved upward with respect to a side board 21, the lower end part of the path width adjusting plate 40 is rockable in a direction in which the lower end part approaches or is alienated from a merchandise ejecting means 30. The path width adjusting plate 40 is disposed at a close position adjacent to the merchandise ejecting means 30 by moving downward the lower end part of the path width adjusting plate 40 after rocking the lower end part to one side. Meanwhile, the path width adjusting plate is disposed at an alienation position at which the path width adjusting plate 40 is alienated from the merchandise ejecting means 30 by moving downward the lower end part of the path width adjusting plate 40 after rocking the lower end part to the other side. An upper guide groove 51 is provided with an upper separating side inclination guiding part 51d such that the upper end part of the path width adjusting plate 40 moves close to the merchandise ejecting means 30 when the path width adjusting plate 40 disposed at the alienation position is moved upward.
