<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed automatic method for calibrating a digitizer. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention is in the technical field of image digitizers or scanners. It relates to a method and device that enables the automatic calibration of the digitizer. The method and device of the invention enable the auto- calibration of the digitizer by taking into account sensitometric data specific to a film strip to be digitized, to automatically adjust the digitizing parameters of the digitizer, according to these sensitometric data and without operator intervention.
