PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which enables improvement of the display time lag of a quick view picture. SOLUTION: The electronic camera is provided with an image pickup part which picks up a subject image to generate picture data, a processing part which processes picture data outputted from the image pickup part to generate a quick view picture to be displayed on a monitor and picture data to be recorded in a recording medium, and a monitor part for displaying the quick view picture, and the processing part starts displaying the quick view picture on the monitor part before the completion of the picture data to be recorded.
