PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system which enables a viewer to easily reserve a program over a look at a reservation picture for program reservation. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast transmission and reception system comprises a digital broadcast transmitting device 101 and a digital broadcast receiving device. The digital broadcast transmitting device 101 multiplexes into a transport stream and transmits audio data and video data constituting a broadcast program and reservation control information (RCI) which is superposed on the video data and controls the reservation picture for accepting a program reservation. The digital broadcast receiving device 102 receives the transport stream, extracts the RCI associated with the broadcast program, and outputs the reservation picture entered into the RCI over video of the broadcast program. A program reservation indicated by the viewer is accepted and reservation information specifying the program is stored.
